Card of the Moment - Giving all of life a brilliant radiance....

Notice how it's almost impossible not to be happy and feeling positive when the sun is shining? Although it hasn't made it's appearance very often lately (apart from yesterday!) we can all look forward to the great bursts of vitality it so generously bestows on us, as we draw nearer to Spring.

And that is the real essence of The Sun in the Tarot. Just like the real thing, the presence of The Sun card in a Tarot reading signifies a time of abundance, optimism, joy and wonder.

Yes, generally everything in your life's going really well when you draw this card, for the strong rays of the Sun are so powerful, they outshine even the darkest of shadows.

It's a time when things just go the way you want, and need them to. During this time everything seems to flow and fall into place wonderfully. The spotlight and focus is on you by everyone around you. You'll find most people are more than happy and willing to support you in all you're doing, and will share in the celebrations of your achievements and success.

When the Sun comes up in your reading, it represents a time when you are about to achieve a big goal you've been working towards, or have reached a mile stone which results in a positive turning point in your life.

It's when we accomplish something momentous and great. You might be getting married, or having a baby, or perhaps you're graduating from university or publishing that book you've been writing. Get my drift?

Whatever goals you've been working on, the appearance of this card in your reading indicates that you're about to experience a heightened state of happiness and joy from having reached this point, and achieved what you set out to achieve.

It's your turn and time to shine, bask in all your glory and revel in your success.

Because the Sun card carries such a strong positive energy, when it shows up in your reading, remember to make the most of it, as it won't always show up, and when it does, that wondrous energy doesn't last forever.

So, if you're blessed with the Sun card in your reading, really take the opportunity to promote yourself even more out there, and keep that powerful momentum going for as long as you can. This should come to us more easily when graced with the energy of the Sun, as the Sun is the motor that drives and expresses the life force in us.

In Astrology, the Sun, together with the Moon, is one of the Luminaries, and as we know is also the centre of our Solar System. Being the giver and creator of life, without the Sun, the Earth and everything on it would die. Everything rotates around it.

Therefore the Sun is also the central core of us, and so it also represents our identity and our ego, and carries a very driven, forceful, masculine energy.

The Sun is also presented as the radiant Sun-God Apollo, in ancient Greek mythology. His nickname was Phoebus, which means 'the brilliant' and is an image of the power of consciousness to dispel darkness.

Along with light, Apollo brings clarity, optimism and renewed trust after the darkness is dispelled, also embodying that positive, forward driven masculine energy.

When we tap into, and embrace this within ourselves, it helps us feel empowered and motivates us to keep working towards, and forging ahead with our goals with confidence.

I will be talking more about the fascinating world of Greek mythology and Astrology in my coming posts, as they are connected to, and correspond with the Tarot. Follow my blog for more.

So yes indeed, the Sun card in a Tarot reading is always the one you want to see, as its appearance suggests you're in for a time of great fulfillment and success, where it's all about you! You'll be giddy with happiness as you celebrate your wins! Congratulations!

However, just like everything else, even the Sun, in all it's positivity has another not-so-great side. Just like that expression - "Too much of a good thing is not good for you" and "Get too much sun and you will get burnt". They can apply here and we learn a lot from these words of wisdom.

And whilst most people will be happy for you in your success and happiness, unfortunately there's always going to be those that may not. You may get the sense that some people around you might be envious of your achievements, and don't share in your happiness in quite the same way you do. That's ok. Don't allow this to dampen your spirits, because the truth is you haven't gotten where you are and achieved what you have, because you've been singled out as the universes' favourite, even though it may look that way on the surface to some.

You haven't had your success handed to you on a silver platter. You've worked very hard for this moment, and many will not know, or think about, all the trials and tests you've endured along the way in getting there - they may only see the rewards you're receiving now that you've accomplished it.

Everybody will get their turn in having their special moment too. But right now it's your time, so enjoy it to fullest, knowing you so deserve it, as you've earned it.

Having an understanding of the Sun Tarot card in more depth helps us learn how to be gracious, as well as receptive, whilst dealing with tricky situations, such as the one i just mentioned, along with any other negatives or challenges this ever so positive card can sometimes present.

The Sun card is the third last Major Arcana card in the Tarot, before Judgement and The World, and is a high order mastery card. When it comes up in a reading, this means we've reached a point in the major life story events we all go through, where we've become spiritually elevated and evolved to a higher level of consciousness.
